Comey memos indict himself; DOJ IG probing memos over classified material

The long-awaited Comey memos have been a point of contention in recent weeks.   Since they were SUPPOSED to contain information which lead to the appointment of the Special Counsel, Congress wanted to see what was in them.  (You would have thought they would have wanted to see that BEFORE appointing the Special Counsel… but this is Congress that we are talking about.)

After a bunch of missed deadlines, and a whole lot of excuses, Congress was out of patience, and had threatened the DOJ and FBI with contempt of Congress, if they did not release them.  Finally, the Comey memos were released, in redacted form, late last night.

Click HERE to read the memos, as released.

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Ca.), House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) issued a statement soon after the release of the memos:

“We have long argued former Director Comey’s self-styled memos should be in the public domain, subject to any classification redactions. These memos are significant for both what is in them and what is not.

Former Director Comey’s memos show the President made clear he wanted allegations of collusion, coordination, and conspiracy between his campaign and Russia fully investigated. The memos also made clear the ‘cloud’ President Trump wanted lifted was not the Russian interference in the 2016 election cloud, rather it was the salacious, unsubstantiated allegations related to personal conduct leveled in the dossier.

The memos also show former Director Comey never wrote that he felt obstructed or threatened. While former Director Comey went to great lengths to set dining room scenes, discuss height requirements, describe the multiple times he felt complimented, and myriad other extraneous facts, he never once mentioned the most relevant fact of all, which was whether he felt obstructed in his investigation.

The memos also make certain what has become increasingly clear of late: former Director Comey has at least two different standards in his interactions with others. He chose not to memorialize conversations with President Obama, Attorney General Lynch, Secretary Clinton, Andrew McCabe or others, but he immediately began to memorialize conversations with President Trump. It is significant former Director Comey made no effort to memorialize conversations with former Attorney General Lynch despite concerns apparently significant enough to warrant his unprecedented appropriation of the charging decision away from her and the Department of Justice in July of 2016.

These memos also lay bare the notion that former Director Comey is not motivated by animus. He was willing to work for someone he deemed morally unsuited for office, capable of lying, requiring of personal loyalty, worthy of impeachment, and sharing the traits of a mob boss. Former Director Comey was willing to overlook all of the aforementioned characteristics in order to keep his job. In his eyes, the real crime was his own firing.

The memos show Comey was blind to biases within the FBI and had terrible judgment with respect to his deputy Andrew McCabe. On multiple occasions he, in his own words, defended the character of McCabe after President Trump questioned McCabe.

Finally, former Director Comey leaked at least one of these memos for the stated purpose of spurring the appointment of Special Counsel, yet he took no steps to spur the appointment of Special Counsel when he had significant concerns about the objectivity of the Department of Justice under Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

As we have consistently said, rather than making a criminal case for obstruction or interference with an ongoing investigation, these memos would be Defense Exhibit A should such a charge be made.”

President Trump tweeted his reaction to the Comey memos:

Most other people’s reactions were similar to this:

The most puzzling part about the memos, was that there was NO “smoking gun” that everyone was expecting to read.  After all, the ENTIRE appointment of the Special Counsel was supposed to be started, BECAUSE of these memos… right?  Let’s all listen to James Comey’s testimony in front of Congress June 8th, 2017, to refresh our memories:

So, if there’s no smoking gun about anything that could have possibly prompted the appointment of the Special Counsel in the Comey memos…. then…. WHY do we still have the Special Counsel??  (And now we all know why Rosenstein at the DOJ kept making excuses for not releasing the Comey memos… because it was Rosenstein who appointed the Special Counsel!)

So how much longer will the farce of the Special Counsel investigation continue, now that we know there was NO BASIS for the investigation in the first place???  That’s the real question on everyone’s minds.  In the private sector world, it would have been ended exactly 60 seconds after the release of the memos.  But this is Congress and the Federal Government at work… so…. who knows.

MEANWHILE, Comey is in seriously hot water.  You could even say that it might be scalding hot water.  Thanks to his testimony to Congress last June, and his admitted leaking, he is now under the probe of the DOJ Inspector General, regarding the classification of the memos that he leaked.  As a Fox News article states,

A source familiar with the probe confirmed to Fox News the inspector general is looking at whether classified information was given to unauthorized sources as part of a broader review of Comey’s communications outside the bureau — including media contact.

The developments put the ex-FBI boss in the crosshairs of an investigation just as his former deputy, Andrew McCabe, faces a criminal referral over a separate leak.

The Wall Street Journal reported that at least two of those Comey memos have been to found to contain material now deemed classified, prompting the inspector general investigation.

A broader set of memos detailing Comey’s conversations with Trump were handed over to Congress Thursday evening.

Comey has maintained he didn’t release any memos containing classified material. In his testimony last year before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Comey said he made the decision to document the interactions in a way that would not trigger security classification.

But the newly released memos could cause problems for Comey.

The Journal noted that Comey himself redacted classified elements in one of those memos, and another memo had material later upgraded by the FBI to “confidential” (a low classification level).

They apparently were among the four memos Comey gave to friend Daniel Richman, a professor at Columbia Law School.

In the seven total memos handed over to congressional committees, eight of the 15 pages have redactions under classified exceptions. They include classified information at one of the most sensitive levels — SECRET — as well as the lower level of confidential.

In one memo documenting his January 2017 Trump Tower meeting, Comey wrote that the material should be classified at the SECRET level unless the intelligence agencies thought otherwise.

“I am not sure of the proper classification here,” Comey writes, “so have chosen SECRET. Please let me know if it should be higher or lower than that.”

This, too, could be at odds with Comey’s June 2017 Senate testimony that he avoided classified material in the memos so that they could be widely shared.

The DOJ IG (Horowitz) is expected to release his full report sometime in May, in which there is expected to be an entire section of the report devoted to the mishandling of the Clinton email scandal…. so this new probe in the mishandling of classified information by Comey himself, is just icing on the cake 🙂

The fun doesn’t stop at the classified information probe of Comey, either.  James Clapper is about to get in on the fun, too.  In one of the memos, there is a very curious story about CNN needing a “hook” – and that fake dossier (paid for by the Hillary campaign and the DNC) was the hook they wanted.  Almost immediately afterwards, the story was leaked to CNN, and Clapper is right there at the forefront of it all:

Rest easy with the Angels, big Brother

I would like to start off by apologizing for not writing a blog for so long.

My brother (and only sibling) passed away suddenly on Sunday (April 8th) without any warning.  He suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, and his untimely death was pretty much instantaneous.  He was only 53 years old.

I have (understandably) been in a state of shock for the last several days… and while I have been watching TV to try to keep my mind occupied on something other than crying, every show has sounded like Charlie Brown’s teacher.  I haven’t been able to fully absorb any of the news happening lately, let alone blog about it.

It took me quite a few days, but I think I am finally at the point where I can talk about it, and start getting things somewhat back to normal (or as close to that, as possible.)   So while I have your attention, let me introduce you to my brother, and show you one of my fondest memories of him.

Geoff and Christin Glacier National Park

This was a picture taken of me and my brother having a snowball fight, on a glacier at Glacier National Park.  To the best of my recollection, I was around 9 1/2 years old, and my brother was almost 16.  (There was 6 1/2 years between us.)

My favorite part about this picture isn’t that I have a rather large snowball already formed and ready to throw, as my smile might suggest.  Rather, the best part about this picture, is that my brother was wearing a Kentucky hat.  That was the true “essence” of my brother.  If you had anything to say about the University of Kentucky, or Kentucky basketball, he was ALL EARS, and he could talk for hours on the subject.  Long after graduating from UK, he was also the President of the University of Kentucky fan club in Orlando, FL for a while.  Go Wildcats!

He kept in touch with MANY of his friends from UK, and some of them are expected to attend his funeral on Tuesday.  In fact, some of his friends from childhood are expected to attend as well.  His ability to remain in close touch with friends that he had known for years, as well as form bonds with friends that were relatively new, was simply amazing.

I loved my brother very much.  Growing up, he was my hero.  And even though we grew somewhat apart as we got older, mostly due to his alcoholism, I always knew that my big brother would “have my back” no matter what.  It’s hard to describe in words how much I miss him.

So rest easy with the angels, big brother, and please know that you are deeply loved, and deeply missed.  You’ll always be my hero.

p.s.  I fully intend to return to blogging about political stuff very soon, it just may take a while to get back in the groove, so to speak.  Grief is strange and confusing and overwhelming and frustrating and painful at times, and it helps to talk.   To all who read this entire blog, THANK YOU for listening. 🙂

BORDER CRACKDOWN: Trump signs memo ending ‘Catch and Release’ policy; DOJ announces ‘Zero-Tolerance’ policy on illegal border crossings

Yesterday was a VERY busy day, when it comes to our National Security at our southern border!  While the pundits were busy complaining about the National Guard being deployed to the border, and pointing out that the National Guard couldn’t really DO anything of substance, due to the “Catch and Release” policy that was put in place by President G.W. Bush, many wondered what could actually be done to stop this massive uptick in illegal border crossings.

There have been numerous calls for Congress to change these ridiculous laws and close the nonsensical loopholes, but Congress is on vacation right now…. or I guess the correct phrase is “back in their districts talking to their constituents,” if that’s what you choose to believe.  With attempted illegal border crossings increasing at an alarming rate, President Trump couldn’t wait for Congress to get back from vacation.

The time to fix this problem is NOW!  (Actually, we should have fixed it decades ago… but since time machines haven’t been invented yet, NOW is our next best time reference.)  Yesterday, President Trump took matters into his own hands to keep all of us safe, and wrote a Memorandum to end the “Catch and Release” policy at the border!!!  As a Reuters article states,

U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on Friday ordering the end of a policy, known as “catch and release,” in which illegal immigrants are released from detention while awaiting a court hearing on their status.

As part of the memo, Trump asked Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to produce a list of military facilities that could be used to detain illegal immigrants.

In addition to the change in policy at the border by President Trump to DETAIN illegal immigrants (instead of releasing them to go wherever they wish in our Country until their court date that they rarely show up for,) Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced yesterday that illegal entry into the U.S. will be “met with the full prosecutorial powers of the Department of Justice.”  According to a Fox News article,

The Justice Department announced Friday that it is implementing a “zero-tolerance” policy for prosecuting those attempting to enter the U.S. illegally — the latest in a series of measures by the Trump administration to combat illegal immigration.

“The situation at our Southwest Border is unacceptable,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement announcing the policy. “Congress has failed to pass effective legislation that serves the national interest — that closes dangerous loopholes and fully funds a wall along our southern border. “

“As a result, a crisis has erupted at our Southwest Border that necessitates an escalated effort to prosecute those who choose to illegally cross our border,” he said.

On Friday, Sessions — who has a long-standing reputation for his tough stance on illegal immigration — warned that illegal entry into the U.S. will not be rewarded and will be instead “met with the full prosecutorial powers of the Department of Justice.”

“To the Department’s prosecutors, I urge you: promoting and enforcing the rule of law is vital to protecting a nation, its borders, and its citizens,” he said.

This is AWESOME NEWS!!!  If we detain the illegal immigrants, instead of releasing them, and then prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law…. THAT’S A WINNING RECIPE FOR SUCCESS!!!  (At least until the wall is built!)

Obviously, this is a developing story, as we still don’t yet know if California Governor Jerry Brown will send their National Guard to the border, or even allow the National Guard from other states to be on their border.

At this exact moment in time, Texas has sent 250 National Guard troops to the border (with up to 250 additional National Guard troops coming soon,) and Arizona has sent 400 National Guard troops to the border.  President Trump’s estimated number of National Guard troops desired at this time is 2,000-4,000, so hopefully many more states will be sending their National Guard troops soon!

Facebook rocked by hospital data scandal mere days before Zuckerberg testifies to Congress

In recent weeks, Facebook has been rocked by scandal after scandal.  From quashing conservative voices on Facebook, to selling millions and millions of users data to outside apps and companies (such as Cambridge Analytica,) Facebook has been a piping hot mess lately.

In fact, Facebook has been SUCH a hot mess, that the hashtag #DeleteFacebook is still trending on every social media platform, to this day.

And then… the bottom dropped out, with a bombshell report from CNBC, that Facebook sent a doctor on a secret mission to ask hospitals to share patient data.  No kidding.  It actually happened.  According to the CNBC article,

  • Facebook was in talks with top hospitals and other medical groups as recently as last month about a proposal to share data about the social networks of their most vulnerable patients.
  • The idea was to build profiles of people that included their medical conditions, information that health systems have, as well as social and economic factors gleaned from Facebook.
  • Facebook said the project is on hiatus so it can focus on “other important work, including doing a better job of protecting people’s data.”

Facebook has asked several major U.S. hospitals to share anonymized data about their patients, such as illnesses and prescription info, for a proposed research project. Facebook was intending to match it up with user data it had collected, and help the hospitals figure out which patients might need special care or treatment.

The proposal never went past the planning phases and has been put on pause after the Cambridge Analytica data leak scandal raised public concerns over how Facebook and others collect and use detailed information about Facebook users.

“This work has not progressed past the planning phase, and we have not received, shared, or analyzed anyone’s data,” a Facebook spokesperson told CNBC.

But as recently as last month, the company was talking to several health organizations, including Stanford Medical School and American College of Cardiology, about signing the data-sharing agreement.

While the data shared would obscure personally identifiable information, such as the patient’s name, Facebook proposed using a common computer science technique called “hashing” to match individuals who existed in both sets. Facebook says the data would have been used only for research conducted by the medical community.

The project could have raised new concerns about the massive amount of data Facebook collects about its users, and how this data can be used in ways users never expected.

That issue has been in the spotlight after reports that Cambridge Analytica, a political research organization that did work for Donald Trump, improperly got ahold of detailed information about Facebook users without their permission. It then tried to use this data to target political ads to them

Facebook said on Wednesday that as many as 87 million people’s data might have been shared this way. The company has recently announced new privacy policies and controls meant to restrict the type of data it collects and shares, and how that data can be used.

Led out of Building 8

The exploratory effort to share medical-related data was led by an interventional cardiologist called Freddy Abnousi, who describes his role on LinkedIn as “leading top-secret projects.” It was under the purview of Regina Dugan, the head of Facebook’s “Building 8” experiment projects group, before she left in October 2017.

Facebook’s pitch, according to two people who heard it and one who is familiar with the project, was to combine what a health system knows about its patients (such as: person has heart disease, is age 50, takes 2 medications and made 3 trips to the hospital this year) with what Facebook knows (such as: user is age 50, married with 3 kids, English isn’t a primary language, actively engages with the community by sending a lot of messages).

The project would then figure out if this combined information could improve patient care, initially with a focus on cardiovascular health. For instance, if Facebook could determine that an elderly patient doesn’t have many nearby close friends or much community support, the health system might decide to send over a nurse to check in after a major surgery.

The people declined to be named as they were asked to sign confidentiality agreements.

Health systems are notoriously careful about sharing patient health information, in part because of state and federal patient privacy laws that are designed to ensure that people’s sensitive medical information doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.

To address these privacy laws and concerns, Facebook proposed to obscure personally identifiable information, such as names, in the data being shared by both sides.

However, the company proposed using a common cryptographic technique called hashing to match individuals who were in both data sets. That way, both parties would be able to tell when a specific set of Facebook data matched up with a specific set of patient data.

The issue of patient consent did not come up in the early discussions, one of the people said. Critics have attacked Facebook in the past for doing research on users without their permission. Notably, in 2014, Facebook manipulated hundreds of thousands of people’s news feeds to study whether certain types of content made people happier or sadder. Facebook later apologized for the study.

Health policy experts say that this health initiative would be problematic if Facebook did not think through the privacy implications.

“Consumers wouldn’t have assumed their data would be used in this way,” said Aneesh Chopra, president of a health software company specializing in patient data called CareJourney and the former White House chief technology officer.

“If Facebook moves ahead (with its plans), I would be wary of efforts that repurpose user data without explicit consent.”

When asked about the plans, Facebook provided the following statement:

“The medical industry has long understood that there are general health benefits to having a close-knit circle of family and friends. But deeper research into this link is needed to help medical professionals develop specific treatment and intervention plans that take social connection into account.”

“With this in mind, last year Facebook began discussions with leading medical institutions, including the American College of Cardiology and the Stanford University School of Medicine, to explore whether scientific research using anonymized Facebook data could help the medical community advance our understanding in this area. This work has not progressed past the planning phase, and we have not received, shared, or analyzed anyone’s data.”

“Last month we decided that we should pause these discussions so we can focus on other important work, including doing a better job of protecting people’s data and being clearer with them about how that data is used in our products and services.”

Facebook has taken only tentative steps into the health sector thus far, such as its campaign to promote organ donation through the social network. It also has a growing “Facebook health” team based in New York that is pitching pharmaceutical companies to invest its ample ad budget into Facebook by targeting users who “liked” a health advocacy page, or fits a certain demographic profile.

SO… I don’t know about you, but this whole thing weirds me out, bigly.

It’s bad enough that the dog food that I just ordered on Chewy.com shows up on my Facebook feed as a suggestion.  That has always bothered me.  It’s Big Brother to the Nth degree, and it bothers me…. but I’ve tolerated it for the most part.

And this Cambridge Analytica thing REALLY bothers me, mostly because back when Facebook used all of their user’s data to help Obama win elections, everyone thought it was a GREAT thing!  In fact, everyone thought it was brilliant!  But now, everyone is suddenly shocked that Facebook was selling everyone’s data to the highest bidder.

But now with this revelation that Facebook was trying to somehow tap into our medical data… that is just OUTRAGEOUS!!  Apparently nothing whatsoever is sacred anymore… at least not to Facebook.

So now Facebook has a lot of explaining to do. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will testify before two seperate Congressional hearings next week.  He will testify before the Senate Judiciary and Commerce Committees on April 10th and before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on April 11th.

Meanwhile, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg is going around on their apology tour, giving very polished well rehearsed “We’re sorry” explanations.  But the public demands more than that.  After all, it wasn’t just a few people whose data was affected.  It was 87 Million people.  And those 87 Million people who were already pretty upset, are outraged now.

James Woods put it best… so I’ll let his tweet speak for itself 🙂

Voter Fraud Alert: Over 1 Million Illegal Immigrants have CA Driver’s License, Auto-Registration to Vote.

According to the California State DMV, as of March 31st of this year, at least 1,001,000 illegal immigrants have received state-issued driver’s licenses.

How in the world can this happen???  Well, over 3 years ago, on January 1, 2015, Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 60, “The Safe and Responsible Drivers Act,” into law.  Over time, it has snowballed into 1,001,000 illegal immigrants with state-issued driver’s licenses.  This Bill was supposed to help illegal immigrants get to work (and back) more safely… or at least that’s their story.

Apparently, there is some sort of visual difference between a California driver’s license held by someone who is legally able to vote, and a driver’s license held by an illegal immigrant.  That’s California’s whole system to avoid voter fraud… because as we all know, checking ID’s or having any identification to vote in California, is frowned upon anyways.  According to a Fox News article,

More than one million illegal immigrants living in California have received driver’s licenses, according to a new report.

The state’s Department of Motor Vehicles announced that as of March 31, 1,001,000 illegal immigrants have received licenses, The Sacramento Bee reported on Wednesday.

Illegal immigrants have been legally allowed to obtain driver’s licenses in the state since Jan. 1, 2015 after Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 60, “The Safe and Responsible Drivers Act,” into law.

The bill was meant to help illegal immigrants “get to work, drive their children to school, and run everyday errands without the fear of being pulled over,” according to DriveCA.

The legislation is “working the way it was intended to and has dramatically improved the lives of a million immigrants and their families,” Luis Alejo, author of the bill in 2013 as a then-Democratic assemblyman, told the newspaper in a statement.

“Immigrants are getting tested, licensed and insured and this is making our roads safer for everyone,” Alejo added.

The licenses “have a visible distinguishing feature and cannot be used for certain federal purposes,” such as gaining access to restricted federal areas, and don’t grant illegal immigrants the right to vote.

California isn’t the only state that allows illegal immigrants to legally have a driver’s license.

Eleven other states — Colorado, Hawaii, Vermont, New Mexico, Maryland, Illinois, Delaware, Washington, Nevada, Connecticut and Washington, D.C. — also allow those without legal U.S. citizenship to apply for licenses if they can provide specific documentation, “such as a foreign birth certificate, a foreign passport, or a consular card and evidence of current residency in the state.”

So… apparently we are all supposed to believe that all of these illegal immigrants, who didn’t follow the rules to get here in the first place, are now suddenly following the rules about NOT voting after they get a state-issued driver’s license, because of a missing sticker or hologram or something.  Sure.  Ok.

The problem is, California is about to make SURE that all of these illegal immigrants who already have drivers licenses, are REGISTERED VOTERS, when they renew their driver’s licenses.  As another Fox News article states,

California this spring will begin automatically registering adults who obtain or renew a driver’s license to vote, leading to some concern non-citizens and immigrants illegally living in the state could find it easier to cast ballots in elections.

State officials are disputing those claims, however, and say safeguards in place will prevent non-citizens from voting.

The issue involves the latest implementation of the California Motor Voter Act, which beginning in April will send information about drivers to state voter rolls unless the license holder opts out, or is not eligible. The automatic registration component of the process has some concerned about potential fraud.

“You’re setting the state up for a disaster. They don’t seem to have a process in place to verify that people are who they say they are. It’s a free-for-all, a process that can be manipulated,” said Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote, a national organization that unsuccessfully pressed Gov. Jerry Brown to veto the law allowing automatic registration.

A California official pushed back against those concerns, telling Fox News those who must apply for or renew a special license classification – the AB 60, named after the bill that gave illegals the right to apply for licenses in 2015 – would be excluded from the voter notification process.

“The driver license application program prevents undocumented Californians from being able to register to vote,” said Jessica Gonzalez, Assistant Deputy Director of the DMV. “Automatic programming will not let them go to the (voter) registration section. It will be automatically grayed out and can’t be bypassed. It will require proof of U.S. citizenship and California residency.”

Critics of the automatic registration process say they remain skeptical about the ability of the state to keep ineligible people off the registration rolls. Former California State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a former vice chairman of the Committee on Elections, says the state generally does an inadequate job of scrutinizing voter registration.

“Different agencies in California don’t effectively communicate with each other,” Donnelly told Fox News. “Cracks exist in the system.

The DMV is probably sincere in trying to do its job … When we were debating AB60 when I was in the legislature, they said the (AB 60) license wouldn’t be able to be used for federal purposes, and they are being used to board aircrafts.”

Linda Paine, co-founder of the nonpartisan Election Integrity Project of California, said her organization has visited DMV offices to observe how workers handle undocumented immigrants. She said the visits, and meetings with state officials, left her with little confidence about any safeguards to prevent illegal voter registration.

“There are thousands and thousands of DMV workers across our huge state,” Paine told Fox News. “They’re not all trained … It’s not even that people who are ineligible want to be registered. They may not know that they have to select ‘Opt out.’”

So I guess if you want to believe Jessica Gonzalez, Assistant Deputy Director of the DMV’s nicely polished explanation, to help you sleep better at night, that’s your choice.  Personally, I don’t believe a single word of it.  After all, if California really wanted to prove that their voting system was on the up-and-up, they would have complied to the Voter Fraud panel that Trump put together immediately after the 2016 election…. but they didn’t.  In fact, they refused.

In my humble opinion, we need a NATIONAL Voter ID card, issued by the Government.  And we need it distributed RIGHT before the polls open, so that the people who make fake documents can’t pump out thousands (or millions) of fake ID’s in time to vote.  Granted, it’s a logistical nightmare to do that, especially since different states vote at different times, and their early voting schedules differ greatly as well…. not to mention the mailed-in votes for people overseas.

But SOMETHING needs to happen!  The dead have been magically voting in this Country for decades (if not centuries) and the problem has only gotten worse, with illegal immigrants voting now too.  If we don’t wrap our collective arms around the problem NOW, we might never be able to contain the fraud, and our most basic fundamental precious right in this Country will be lost forever.

Governors of TX, AZ, and NM already supporting National Guard deployment to US/Mexico border.

The Governors of Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico are already stating support for sending their states’ National Guard to the border, to support the Trump administration’s order calling for the immediate deployment of the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border to combat “a drastic surge of illegal activity.”  According to a Fox News article,

Governors of several states have voiced support for President Donald Trump’s decision Wednesday to deploy National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, paving the way for the White House to implement its latest anti-illegal immigration policy.

The Republican governors of Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico — three states that border Mexico — backed the president’s move, which officials said could lead to troops on the ground as early as Wednesday night.

Arizona “welcomes the deployment of National Guard to the border,” Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey tweeted.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Trump’s action “reinforces Texas’ longstanding commitment to secure our southern border.”

In New Mexico, Gov. Susana Martinez said she appreciates the White House efforts to involve states in the policy-making.

Even California Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown, who has openly sparred with the White House over his state’s pro-illegal immigration policies, signaled that his administration might cooperate.

“This request – as with others we’ve received from the Department of Homeland Security, including those for additional staffing in 2006 and 2010 – will be promptly reviewed to determine how best we can assist our federal partners,” California National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Tom Keegan said in a statement issued on behalf of Brown’s office. “We look forward to more detail, including funding, duration and end state.”

That takes care of 3 of the 4 border states along the US/Mexico border… so what will California’s Governor Jerry Brown do?  Personally, I think it’s a good sign that the California National Guard spokesman made a reference to the states National Guard’s previous deployments in 2006 (under G.W. Bush) and again in 2010 (under Obama.)  However, ultimately it is a decision for the Governor.

This morning, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen talked to “Fox and Friends” and stated that she would be talking to ALL the Governors again today.  She also said that she’s spoken with California Gov. Jerry Brown, whose state’s designation as a sanctuary state has caused a great deal of controversy.

“We sent him information with respect to our best advice how we could use the guard to support our mission,” said Nielsen. “Men and women on the front lines if you will, whether they be state employees or federal employees are usually have much better grasp what we need.”

Brown has supported such use of the National Guard to support the Border Patrol in the past, she said, but she wants to have more conversations with him before she jumps ahead of him on the issue.

Yesterday, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen spoke at the White House Press Briefing, and talked about the National Guard helping out our Border Patrol agents in great detail.

More CA Cities/Counties Joining Trump Federal lawsuit against California; Escondido, CA Voted “YES” Last Night

The push-back against California Governor Jerry Brown and his state’s lawless illegal immigration policies and Sanctuary Laws, has snowballed into a movement.

Last month, I wrote a blog about Los Alamitos joining the Trump administration’s Federal lawsuit against the State of California.  Los Alamitos was the first on the bandwagon, with many more jumping on at a quick pace.

Shortly thereafter, Huntington Beach voted 6-1 to challenge the Sanctuary laws, and is considering being the first city in California to sue the State separately from the Federal lawsuit.

Then, the Orange County, CA Board of Supervisors voted unanimously last week to join the lawsuit as well.  Apparently feeling the heat of the growing movement, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra threatened the Orange County sheriff’s office with the possibility of arrest.  Regardless of the threats from California AG Xavier Becerra, the movement continues on!

Last night, the Escondido City Council voted 4-1 to support the Trump administration’s lawsuit against California’s so-called sanctuary laws.

San Diego County is next up to possibly join the Federal lawsuit against California.  They are scheduled for a similar closed door vote on April 17th.

You can hear more from the Mayor of Escondido, Sam Abed, along with Kristin Gaspar, the Chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors of San Diego County in this interview on April 3rd, by Shannon Bream of Fox News:

Many of the comments from citizens of these cities/counties so far, is that they want to be SAFE from the criminals, illegal or not.  The citizens who came here as immigrants years ago, and became citizens the right way, hold the strongest argument in my opinion.  They did everything by the book, and they don’t appreciate other people jumping in front of the line, especially if they are criminals too.
Here is more from a local ABC affiliate about the vote in Escondido, CA to join the Trump administration’s lawsuit against the state of California.  At the time of the video, 66 people from the community had already signed up to speak publicly about the vote.  As I mentioned earlier, the final vote was 4-1 to join the lawsuit against the state of California’s Sanctuary Laws.

The shooter at the YouTube Headquarters has been identified as Nasim Aghdam, 39, of Southern California.  She used the name Nasime Sabz for her social media accounts, and YouTube channel.

As it turns out, the horrible tragedy at the YouTube headquarters yesterday, might have been avoided if police had listened to Nasim Aghdam’s father.  As a Fox News article states,

The woman suspected of shooting three people at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, Calif. before killing herself was furious with the company because it had stopped paying her for videos she posted on the platform, her father said late Tuesday.

The police identified the shooter as Nasim Aghdam, 39, of Southern California — and said they had a run-in with her earlier in the day.

Ismail Aghdam said he reported his daughter missing on Monday after she did not answer her phone for two days. He said the family received a call from Mountain View police around 2 a.m. Tuesday saying they found Nasim sleeping in a car.

He said he warned them she might be headed to YouTube because she “hated” the company.

Mountain View Police spokeswoman Katie Nelson confirmed officers located a woman by the same name asleep in a vehicle asleep in a Mountain View parking lot Tuesday morning.

Nelson said the woman declined to answer further questions but the police spokeswoman did not respond to a question about whether police were warned Aghdam might go to YouTube.

Aghdam reportedly maintained a personal website alleging that YouTube compensated her unfairly and censored her views.

Authorities said they are still probing Aghdam’s motive, and that there are no indications she knew the victims.

In online postings last month, Aghdam alleged that YouTube tries to “censor and suppress people who speak the truth.”

“BE AWARE!” warns a website that reportedly belonged to Aghdam. “Dictatorship exists in all countries but with different tactics! They only care for personal short term profits & do anything to reach their goals.”

The website contains several screenshots purportedly showing Aghdam’s YouTube user account page. The screenshots suggest that at least one of Aghdam’s YouTube accounts had been “de-monetized,” meaning that she was not earning significant revenue from her uploads to the site.

The company “de-monetizes” some channels for reasons including inappropriate material or having fewer than 1,000 subscribers.

Text superimposed on one of the screenshots reads: “My Revenue for 300,000 Views Is $0.10?????”

The website also espouses veganism, and includes videos apparently showing animals being skinned and cooked alive.

Aghdam’s YouTube videos had been removed from the site by Tuesday evening for violating the company’s terms of service. Her personal website remained online.

Ismail Aghdam, Nasim’s father, told NBC that YouTube “stopped everything and now she has no income.”

Mercury News made a compilation video of some of her work:

Here is another one of her videos, in which she appears to be speaking Farsi:

Here is another one of her videos, in which it is OBVIOUS she suffered from some type of mental illness.  It is a so-called parody of Nicki Minaj:

This appears to be her manifesto, against YouTube censorship:

manifesto

iran better than usa

Nasim Aghdam was also a PETA activist.

PETA proteest

peta activist tweet

There are a TON of videos that she made – each one more disturbing than the next.   Due to her Iranian heritage, and her broken English, it is hard to tell what language she is speaking in the videos.  CLEARLY, mental illness was at play here, and it went unchecked for a very long time.

The simple fact that she thought her videos were GOOD, and that she deserved to earn a living by making them, speaks volumes about her psychosis.

The lunatic Left is already calling for the ban of handguns now (since it was a handgun used in the shooting, not an AR-15.)  And, of course, let’s not forget to call everyone who is upset about this shooting, an islamophobe…. right? (sigh)

Trump Plans to Use National Guard to Secure Southern Border; Navy to Help too.

Earlier today, I wrote a blog about President Trump stating that the Military was going to be used to defend our southern border with Mexico.   That statement came while he was in a working lunch with Baltic leaders.

A short while later, while President Trump was holding a joint press conference with the Baltic leaders, I wrote another blog about the joint press conference, in which he stated the sentiment of Military force at our southern border, yet again.  At that time, President Trump stated that he would be discussing details shortly with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.

Later today, that meeting with Defense Secretary Mattis happened, along with Homeland Security Secretary Kirsten Nielsen, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford and Chief of Staff John Kelly. According to a Fox News article,

A White House official revealed later Tuesday to Fox News that the plan considered by Trump would be a “substantial” mobilization of the National Guard.

In Tuesday’s discussion, Trump and senior officials “also agreed on the need to pressure Congress to urgently pass legislation to close legal loopholes exploited by criminal trafficking, narco-terrorist and smuggling organizations,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said. She added that Mattis, Homeland Security Secretary Kirsten Nielsen, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford and Chief of Staff John Kelly were among the other officials present.

The Pentagon was scrambling to come up with a response to Trump’s statement on the military guarding the border. But according to a memo obtained by Fox News and discussions with officials, one area where the Pentagon could contribute immediately is the Air Force’s Barry Goldwater live-fire range, which shares a 35-mile border with Mexico in southern Arizona.

The Defense Department is already offering some support to the border, including U.S. Navy ships patrolling waters to seize drugs as well as missions involving over 100 personnel from U.S. military’s northern command — including eight planes and a drone — to help border patrol.

Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council, said on Fox News Radio’s “The Todd Starnes Show” that it gives Border Patrol “certainty of apprehension.”

“The criminal smugglers, this is a multibillion dollar industry. They smuggle humans, they smuggle drugs,” he said. “This criminal enterprise, if we arrest the majority of people that cross the border illegally, we put a dent into their criminal enterprise, and if you put a dent into their criminal enterprise, then you can possibly stop them.”

Now that the plan to use actual FORCE at our southern border is starting to take shape, I feel like a little kid that needs to run around in circles in the backyard… again!!  No joke!  It is SO exciting to have a President who not only WANTS to protect our beloved Country, but is actually DOING it!!

While nothing is set in stone just yet, I personally LOVE the mix of National Guard at the physical border, while utilizing Navy ships to deter smugglers.  Adding the planes and a drone too, is AWESOME news!!

Typically it is the Coast Guard that patrols the water to go after drug smugglers, but those awesome Navy ships have a whole lot of bells and whistles that the Coast Guard ships simply just don’t have.  So to have the Navy out there helping out, is a HUGE move in the right direction!

I’m sure there will be more to write about, as the plan comes together to defend our southern border in a more formal fashion, so stay tuned!

In the meanwhile, sleep tight, Patriots!!  President Trump is ON IT!!! #MAGA

BREAKING: Active Shooter at YouTube HQ at San Bruno, CA (Updated to Include Statement by Police Chief – Video)

Breaking News – There is an active shooter at the YouTube headquarters, in San Bruno, CA.

As usual, twitter is the first place where information started coming in about this:

While there is little written information about this at this time, here’s a little bit of what we know, from an ABC News article,

Police are responding to an active shooter at the YouTube headquarters in California’s Bay Area, authorities say, cautioning people to stay away.

Employees tweeted that an active shooter was in the building and that people inside had barricaded themselves in rooms. Some employees were later evacuated.

One employee, Todd Sherman, tweeted that he was sitting in a meeting when he heard rumbling from what he first thought was an earthquake but was really people nearby who were running away.

California police respond to reports of an active shooter at the YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, Calif., April 3, 2018.

Sherman said that after someone told him that “there was a person with a gun,” he “looked down and saw blood drips on the floor and stairs.”

Aerial footage showed people coming out of the building with their hands in the air, surrounded by a heavy police presence. Officers in bulletproof vests were then seen entering the building.

Police were seen patting down people outside after they left the building.

About 1,700 people work on the YouTube campus, ABC San Francisco station KGO reported. It is unclear if anyone has been injured.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and California Highway Patrol are responding to the scene, and the FBI’s office in San Francisco is closely monitoring the incident.

Google, which is the parent company of YouTube, said in a statement that it is coordinating with authorities and will release information as it becomes available.

This is obviously a developing story…..  More to come.  Praying that everyone is OK.

UPDATE: The San Bruno police chief issued a statement:

Trump discusses Military Guarding our Southern Border (Again) during Joint Press Conference with Baltic States – Will Meet with Gen. Mattis Shortly

Today, President Trump held a joint news conference with the leaders of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.  This was held shortly after the working lunch with these Baltic leaders (which I blogged about earlier today.)

Estonia’s President Kersti Kaljulaid, Latvia’s President Raimonds Vejonis and Lithuania’s President Dalia Grybauskaite, all praised President Trump during the joint news conference.  It was very impressive how they all chose to speak in English (obviously not their native language) and the press pool from the Baltic states spoke English too!  (and yet sadly, here in America, we’re all dialing “1” for English… that says a lot, doesn’t it?)

Since these Baltic States are right next to Russia, they all appreciated President Trump’s strength and leadership.  The topic of Russia came up several times, and all of the Baltic leaders were VERY adamant about stating how strong Trump has been, and how much they appreciated his help.  They almost tripped over each other to keep singing Trump’s praises.  It was amazing!

President Trump starts taking questions from the reporters around the 28:00 minute mark of the video below, with the first 2-part question from a Reuters reporter about pulling our Troops out of Syria, and also the Military guarding our southern border.  President Trump addressed the Military/southern border question first, and stated that he will be meeting with General Mattis (and a bunch of other people) very shortly.

President Trump also spoke about the caravan of illegal immigrants walking through Mexico on their way to the US, and said, “as of 12 minutes ago, it was all being broken up. We’ll see what happens.”  So, it appears that my earlier blog about the caravan being disbanded was accurate!  YAY!!

You can watch the entire joint news conference below.  Enjoy! 🙂

Trump: We are Going to be Guarding the Border with our Military, until the Wall is Built.

Today (Tuesday, April 3rd) President Trump had a working lunch with Baltic leaders, and allowed the cameras in for a while.  He spoke about MANY things, including the trade deficit with China, and the caravan of immigrants in Mexico.

In an unexpected move, President Trump stated,

“I spoke with Gen. Mattis, we’re going to do some things militarily, until we can have a wall and proper security — we’re going to be guarding our border with the military. That’s a big step,”

“We cannot have people flowing into our country illegally, disappearing, and by the way never showing up for court.”

I don’t know about you, but I am SOOOOO excited about this news!!!  Having the Military guard our border is EXACTLY what we need!!!  Can you imagine tanks lined up at the border, with a few Apache helicopters, and maybe a few fighter planes too??

Oooooo baby!!  #MAGA everyone… #MAGA!!  🙂

I’m sure that the pundits will start screaming and whining that Trump is acting like a dictator… but it IS a matter of National Security, after all!  While the focus of the last few days has been about illegal immigration, the drugs coming across the southern border (mainly heroin and fentanyl) are a HUGE problem!  It’s killing millions of citizens and wrecking countless families.

We don’t have any details yet about exactly HOW the Military will guard the border yet… but you can watch President Trump’s working lunch with Baltic leaders (in which he makes the statement about our Military guarding our southern border) below.

Immigrant Caravan Traveling Through Mexico Appears to be Disbanding

The caravan of immigrants from Central America, now traveling through Mexico while making their way to the U.S., has been a major story in the news lately.

President Trump has had strong words to say about it, via Twitter.  He has pressured Congress to act NOW on changing the weak immigration laws, and has also used NAFTA as a leverage tool against Mexico should they fail to stop the large caravan of immigrants headed this way.  Also, DACA seems to be off the table now, since the Democrats failed to act on the super generous deal that President Trump proposed to solve the problem.

Many pundits JUMPED at the chance to claim that this has nothing to do with DACA, as it only applies to children who came into the country before 2010.  However, if you think that there won’t be a push for another version of DACA after this new wave of children grow up, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

Meanwhile, last night the reporter from Buzzfeed who is embedded with the caravan of immigrants, tweeted that the caravan will disband by Wednesday…. but then hours later, noted that the organizers of the group were insisting that they continue on with their journey, still using asylum as their reason. (As if they couldn’t claim asylum in Mexico.)

This created quite a bit of confusion for people who are following the story intensely.  Are they disbanding???  Or aren’t they??  Which is it?

Then, this morning, there appeared to be more signs that the caravan IS in fact disbanding!

YAY!!!  If they are in fact actually disbanding, this is HUGE NEWS!!!

This is obviously a developing story… more to come!  Stay tuned 🙂

The Face of Jesus; From the “Heaven is For Real” painting by Akiane Kramarik, to the Shroud of Turin 3-D Recreation.

I have often wondered what the real face of Jesus Christ looks like, when praying.  Sometimes I feel silly wondering about it, because his face isn’t what matters AT ALL!  But still…  in a personal relationship, you usually know what the other person IN the relationship looks like!  Thanks to a very special little girl, and major scientific advances, there have been very significant developments in what the ACTUAL face of Jesus might looks like!

The “Heaven is For Real” painting, by Akiane Kramarik

In 2014, a wonderful movie was made out of the 2010 best selling book “Heaven is For Real.”  If you haven’t seen it yet, stop what you’re doing right now, and watch it!  (FYI, you can rent it on Amazon Prime Video, and also DirecTV on-demand, for $3.99.  It is not on Netflix, giving you yet another reason to dump Netflix altogether.)  😉

It’s a true story about a little boy, Colton Burpo, who almost died and had memories of Heaven when he woke up.  The movie goes on with wonderous revelations and insights that simply can’t be explained unless little Colton Burpo was actually in Heaven at one point.

The movie ends with Colton Burpo visiting a little girl who has had visions of Heaven too, and has painted the face of Jesus as she best remembers it.  As Colton Burpo approaches the painting (in REAL LIFE as well as in the movie) he proclaims in wild excitement, “That’s Him!  That’s Jesus!”

Prince-Of-Peace-1

akiane-kramarik

In real life, this little girl is Akaine Kramarik, and she says she got her gift of painting, from God.   She painted “The Prince of Peace” at 8 years old, and actually used strands of her own hair to get Jesus’ eyelashes just right!  She is an adult now, and has painted MANY visions of heaven, which can be purchased on her website.

The Real Face of Jesus, a 3-D recreation from the Shroud of Turin

In 2010 The History Channel aired a show called “The Face of Jesus Uncovered?”  The description according to their website is, “A team of experts uses cutting-edge technology in an attempt to uncover an image of the face of Jesus Christ. Many believe Jesus was buried in an ancient linen cloth known as the Shroud of Turin, which bears traces of blood and the faint image of a man. With the help of 3-D software, the team hopes to finally unlock the secrets of one of the world’s most famous artifacts.”

The show goes through the long tedious process of matching up the Shroud of Turin to the face of Jesus, while accounting for all of the dips and creases of the Shroud around his face and body.

At the end of the show, their final result is finally revealed:

history channel

So now, let’s look at them side by side!

WOW!!  They look VERY similar, don’t they?  Even though Jesus’ face is obviously swollen from all of the beatings (which is historically accurate) that’s amazing how similar they look!!

The first thing that I notice, is that the nose is almost IDENTICAL in both images!  In fact, to me, EVERYTHING looks almost identical!  Could this really BE the face of our Savior?

We won’t know for sure until we get to Heaven, but until then… this might just be the closest we will ever get to the real face of Jesus!  Feel free to print it out, to have on hand while you are praying!  (and if you feel silly, just remember that I’m doing it too!)  🙂

Happy Easter, everyone!  🙂
